Personalized Approach Based on the Individual, Family, or Couple.

Person-Centered Therapy: Also recognized as Rogerian Therapy, this approach is focused on client's lead in sessions while being gently guided by therapist. The goal is for the clients to build confidence in their own self-discovery and finding solutions to various problems.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: Also referred to as CBT for short, this approach allows for discovery, identification, and modification of irrational or unrealistic thought processes that are leading to emotional distress, behavioral problems, and distorted thinking. This approach is more structured than others.

Solution-Focused Therapy: This approach focuses on the solutions rather than focusing too long on problems areas. It incorporates elements of positive psychology to assist clients in finding and constructing solutions to problems. This type of therapy is usually brief but can be incorporated with other therapies where needed.

Trauma-Informed: This approach is an element of all therapies I practice. Being Trauma-Informed means being aware of the physical, emotional, psychological, and physiological impact of trauma on the brain and body. Being informed of trauma's impact is essential to the healing process in most cases.

Intuitive Eating: This approach is meant for those struggling with disordered eating (ex. Binge-Eating). The focus is awareness, body-acceptance, and mindful eating in order to recover from disordered eating habits. Its goal is to heal from issues surrounding food and gain trust and awareness of your intuition.

Motivational Interviewing: This approach focuses on tactics and skills to assisting a client to understanding a deeper meaning to their motivation. Often, this approach is guided conversation about emotions, insecurities, ambivalence, etc. to helping modify behaviors to allow for change to occur.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy: This approach centers around being present and aware in the very moment we are in. The goal is for a client to become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, surrounding, situations, and other conditions. This approach uses elements of grounding as well.

Coping Skills/Strategies: While not a type of therapy, coping skills and strategies are essential in the healing process. I use a variety of skills and strategies from communication, CBT, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills), mindfulness, grounding, coping statements, self-care, etc. These are unique to the individual and can be modified!

Strengths-Based: One of my most often used therapies, Strengths-based is exactly what it sounds like. We use your already available strengths, skills, resources, supports, resiliency, and positive qualities to get you to your goals!

Advantages of Private Pay

vs Insurance

Private pay offers a unique advantage over using insurance for payment. Using private pay does not require a diagnosis (as is required to be provided to insurance companies) unless is demeaned appropriate. All mental health information is kept private and is not a part of any permanent medical record which many find to be important (as is required to be provided to insurances). Another advantage is session frequency and length. There are no limitations to frequency of sessions, and we can modify session length to fit the needs of the client and treatment approach. Using insurance often means strict limitations to both of these!
